Magic Hits 50 Victories for 3rd Year in a Row

The visiting Orlando Magic notched its third straight 50-win season with a 109-93 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

Howard had 23 points and 15 rebounds, his league-leading 55th double-double for Orlando.

Rashard Lewis scored 24 points and Vince Carter had 17 for the Magic (50-21), which won 50 games in three straight seasons for the first time since 1993-96. The Magic has won 10 of 11 — and seven in a row against the 76ers.

“I’ve never won 50 games before,” Carter said. “I’m thinking of the bigger picture. I want to win a championship.”

Dwyane Wade had 27 points and 12 assists for visiting Miami. Brook Lopez had 26 points for the Nets (7-63), who have lost eight in a row. The Nets played without the interim coach Kiki Vandeweghe, whose mother is ill in California. The assistant John Loyer replaced him.

Mehmet Okur scored all of his 14 points in the second half and added 15 rebounds for host Utah. Okur added three blocks for the Jazz, who outscored the Celtics inside by 50-36.
