Heat Past Pistons 98-81,Beasley Ends Slump

Michael Beasley snapped out of a slump with 28 points and nine rebounds as the Miami Heat won their sixth straight, beating the Detroit Pistons 98-81 Wednesday night.

Dorell Wright added 17 points off the bench for Miami, while Quentin Richardson had 16. Dwyane Wade finished with 10, shooting 4 for 13 on the night.
Beasley came into the game averaging 10.1 points in his last seven games, but scored eight in the first quarter against the struggling Pistons.

The Pistons have lost nine straight and 16 of their last 18. Detroit, already missing Richard Hamilton (ankle) and Chris Wilcox (hamstring), lost Jason Maxiell to a back strain in the first quarter.

Rodney Stuckey had 18 points for Detroit and Tayshaun Prince added 17.
The Pistons jumped out to an early 19-9 lead, but Miami outscored them 35-12 over the next 12 minutes to take control of the game. The Heat shot 50 percent in the first half, and had almost as offensive rebounds (eight) as the Pistons had defensive rebounds (nine).

Miami led by as many as 22 down the stretch. Despite the lopsided outcome and the injury to Maxiell, Pistons forward Charlie Villanueva never left the bench, three days after playing just five minutes in Detroit's last game.

Suns Blow by Nets for 9th in a Row

Steve Nash had 24 points and 14 assists, Jason Richardson scored 23 points, and the Phoenix Suns ran their winning streak to nine games by beating the New Jersey Nets 116-105 Wednesday night.

Phoenix, on its longest win streak since winning a franchise-record 17 in a row during the 2006-07 season, came in one game out of second place in the Western Conference. The Suns, who clinched a playoff spot Tuesday, finished 12-2 in March and are an NBA-best 18-4 since the All-Star break.

Amare Stoudemire had 15 points and three reserves were in double figures for the Suns, who followed a sluggish first half by hitting all six 3-point attempts in a 38-point third quarter that turned around the game.

Terrence Williams scored 21 points and Brook Lopez had 19 for New Jersey, which had won three of four, ensuring it wouldn't finish with a share of the NBA's worst record. Courtney Lee and Kris Humphries each added 17.

Trailing by three after looking ordinary in the first half on the second night of a back-to-back, the Suns ran off the first 13 points of the third quarter. Richardson, Nash, and Richardson again hit three straight 3-pointers during the spurt, which gave Phoenix a 63-53 lead.

Jared Dudley hit two 3-pointers late in the period, the second increasing the lead to 15 before the Suns took an 88-76 advantage to the fourth. They shot 67 percent overall in the period.

New Jersey got within five early in the fourth quarter before Phoenix quickly regained command.

The game was tied at 23 after one quarter, then reserves Williams (10 points) and Humphries (nine) helped the Nets score 30 points on 65 percent shooting in the second to take a 53-50 lead into the half. Phoenix had seven turnovers in the period and 10 in the first half.

Wallace, Chandler Help Bobcats Beat 76ers 103-84

Bobcats (39-35)had six game winning streak. Gerald Wallace scored 24 points and 12 rebounds, Stephen Jackson played just 25 minutes, got 16 points,Tyson Chandler 15 points 6 rebounds.

76ers (26-49) had two-game losing streak.Andre Iguodala 14 points,and Jason Kapono got 13.

Bouncing back from a home loss two nights earlier to Toronto, the Bobcats forced 25 turnovers, took 24 more free throws than the 76ers and dominated the second half to move four games ahead of ninth-place Chicago in the Eastern Conference with eight games left. The top eight teams make the playoffs.

Charlotte, meanwhile, got a strong game from Chandler inside -- and it's been a long time coming. Slowed for much of the season with foot and ankle problems, the player acquired from New Orleans for Emeka Okafor in the offseason had failed to provide the expected life and versatility inside.

After the Bobcats were upset with several calls down the stretch of Monday's loss to Toronto, new owner Michael Jordan took little time to target the referees from his seat next to the Charlotte bench. He yelled after an out of bounds call went Philadelphia's way, and the call was overturned by the trail official.

Jordan was in a much better mood when he rocked back in his chair in laughter during a conversation with referee Leon Wood before the start of the second quarter. The Jordan on the other bench, however, was steamed with a 16-3 free-throw discrepancy as the Bobcats built a 16-point first-half lead.

Bucks lead to Clippers 107-89,Jennings adds 17

Milwaukee past the Los Angeles Clippers 107-89 on Tuesday night.Brandon Jennings scored 17 points and went the extra distance to protect Bucks big man Andrew Bogut .

Bogut scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds in his second straight game since missing one with a sore back, and Jennings, who added six assists and five rebounds, came to the 7-footer's aid late in the third quarter when tensions rose after a spat of rough play.

These Bucks won't be pushed around by anyone, turning into just the type of scrappy, hard-scrabble group that coach Scott Skiles envisioned when he took over in 2008.

Though the Clippers beat Milwaukee on March 17 in L.A., this one wasn't close despite double-doubles from Chris Kaman (17 points and 10 rebounds) and Drew Gooden (20 and 11). Ersan Ilyasova scored 20 points, Jerry Stackhouse had 16 and Charlie Bell 10 for the Bucks.

Milwaukee, which led by double digits most of the game, turned the pressure up late in the third quarter. John Salmons found Bogut for a one-handed alley-oop slam and moments later Bogut swatted a layup by Eric Gordon to Jennings, who flipped a soft touch pass downcourt to Stackhouse for a dunk that gave Milwaukee a 77-61 lead.

That sparked the Bucks' point guard, who got an outlet pass on a 2-on-1 break with Stackhouse and froze the defender by faking a behind-the-back pass for a layup that made it 81-66 and brought the crowd to its feet.
Bogut has never had a winning record since being selected No. 1 overall in 2005 despite having one postseason trip his rookie year, and Milwaukee looked headed for another losing mark this season at 18-25 in January.

Thunder Too Much for 76ers 111-93

For three quarters, Kevin Durant put on quite a show for about 50 friends and family members who made the short trip up I-95 from his hometown of Washington, D.C.

There was no need to play for most of the fourth while his teammates were adding to a big lead. Durant had 26 points and 10 rebounds, Jeff Green added 16 points and the Oklahoma City Thunder cruised to a 111-93 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday.

''It's big to see fans with the Oklahoma City jerseys on,'' Durant said. ''I don't care if it's my jersey. I care about Oklahoma City jerseys. I know a lot of the jerseys were for me because I had a lot of family here. It was extra special to get a win here.''

Nenad Krstic added 14 points and Russell Westbrook had 10 points and 14 assists for the Thunder (45-28), who swept the season series from Philadelphia for the first time since 1998-99. ''We start every game with the same approach, to have a serious competitive effort no matter who we're playing,'' Thunder coach Scott Brooks said.

James Harden had 12 points and Serge Ibaka 10 for Oklahoma City, which is nearing its first playoff appearance since 2004-05 as the Seattle SuperSonics. Elton Brand scored 22 points, Andre Iguodala added 21 and Jrue Holiday had 11 for the Sixers, who had their two-game winning streak snapped.

''We were close for a while, and then the beginning of the fourth quarter, they kind of exploded on us,'' Brand said. Philadelphia still has not won at least three in a row since a five-game streak between Jan. 31-Feb. 9.
''I think we missed some easy shots,'' Holiday said. ''They got in transition and got some momentum in the fourth and we didn't recover.'' Marreese Speights and Rodney Carney added 10 points each.
As usual, Durant provided the big plays for the Thunder.
Durant, the league's second-leading scorer (29.6) behind only LeBron James' 29.8, sparked the Thunder with six points in the final 2:07 of the third quarter. After the Sixers got within 77-70, Durant drove by three Philadelphia defenders and threw down a one-handed dunk.

Durant, who has 22 double-doubles this season, then added a tough runner in the lane and two free throws with 0.9 seconds remaining.
Oklahoma City also received balanced scoring and extended its lead early in the fourth. The Thunder went on a 17-4 run to open the quarter with reserves scoring all the points. Eric Maynor had six and Harden five as the Thunder increased their lead to 101-78 with 5:55 left. ''Our bench did a great job, especially in the fourth quarter,'' Brooks said. ''Eric Maynor set the tone with a big 3-point shot.''

Paul Has 15 Points as Hornets Beat Lakers 108-100

Chris Paul had his first double-double since returning from injury with 15 points and 13 assists to help the New Orleans Hornets beat the Los Angeles Lakers 108-100 on Monday night.

David West scored 20 points for New Orleans, while Marcus Thornton had 18 points and fellow rookie Darren Collison, a former UCLA standout, added 17 points against his hometown team.

Kobe Bryant had 31 points and Pau Gasol added 26 points and 22 rebounds, but they didn't have much help as the Lakers trailed throughout the final three quarters and fell behind by as much as 17 points in the fourth before losing for the second time in three games.
Thornton and James Posey each had three 3-pointers for the Hornets, who hit 10 3s in all while snapping a two-game skid. Posey finished with 13 points and Emeka Okafor grabbed 13 rebounds.

Ron Artest scored 14 points and Lamar Odom 10 for Los Angeles, but the Lakers did not have a point from a reserve until Jordan Farmar's 3-pointer with 2:42 left in the third quarter, which cut New Orleans' lead to 66-61.

The Hornets responded with eight straight points, capped by West's layup on a feed from Paul. After Gasol's free throws pulled the Lakers to 74-63, Los Angeles was looking to cut it to single digits when Posey swooped in for a backside block on Gasol. New Orleans broke the other way and Collison hit a driving floater in a crowd while being fouled by Gasol. He converted the three-point play to widen New Orleans' lead to 77-63 heading into the fourth quarter.

Lakers coach Phil Jackson appeared ready to concede after Okafor tipped in West's miss to make it 87-70 with a little more than nine minutes left. Bryant joined Gasol on the bench, even thought the Lakers' reserves were being outscored 31-5 to that point. However, the Lakers scored 11 straight points, the last when Bryant checked back in just in time to put back Farmar's missed free throw, cutting it to 87-81 with about 5:40 still remaining.

Darius Songaila, who had 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting, then hit a jumper to snap the run. After Famar hit another 3, West banked in a tough fade over Odom. Artest then missed his second 3-point attempt in three possessions and the Hornets began rebuilding their lead. Songaila tipped in West's miss. Soon after, Posey's 3 put the Hornets up 96-86 with 2:19 to go. The Lakers started fouling, but the Hornets hit their next eight free throws -- four by Paul and two each by Thornton and Posey.

New Orleans wound up outshooting the Lakers 49 percent to 42 percent as Los Angeles was hurt by 7-of-29 shooting from 3-point range.
Gasol scored the Lakers' first 12 points and his dunk later gave Los Angeles a 21-17 lead, but New Orleans regained the lead for good on consecutive 3s by Posey and Collison.

Salmons Scores 25, Bucks Rally Past Grizzlies

John Salmons scored 10 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, and the Milwaukee Bucks rallied to beat the Memphis Grizzlies
108-103 on Sunday.

Salmons twice put the Bucks ahead in the extra period with baskets, including the lead for good when he drained a fading 14-foot jumper with 1:35 left. Rookie Brandon Jennings added 29 points, eight assists and seven rebounds, and Andrew Bogut had 18 points and 11 rebounds in his return after missing a game with a sore back to help the Bucks avoid a three-game losing streak.

Milwaukee is 16-4 since acquiring Salmons at the trade deadline from Chicago. Zach Randolph led Memphis with 31 points and 15 rebounds, but was clearly frustrated down the stretch, chucking his headband toward the crowd after being called for a foul with 45 seconds to play in overtime.

Milwaukee rallied from a seven-point deficit midway through the fourth quarter when Jennings took control. Jennings, who had 11 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, had been struggling from the field in his past four games, but hit several contested layups.
He also made one costly mistake.

After putting the Bucks ahead 93-89 with a floater and again 94-92 with a free throw, he fouled Mike Conley in the corner with 2.1 seconds left in regulation. The referees reviewed the shot, determining it was a 2-pointer, and Conley hit both free throws to send the game to overtime.
There, Grizzlies center Marc Gasol, who had missed the previous five games with a partially torn neck muscle, put Memphis up 98-96 with a jumper.

But Salmons hit a 3 to give Milwaukee a 99-98 lead. After O.J. Mayo, who finished with 17 points, had a run-out dunk with 1:48 to play, Salmons sank the jumper to give the Bucks the lead for good and Milwaukee hit six of its final seven free throws to seal it. While Memphis came into the game just 1 1/2 behind Milwaukee in the overall NBA standings, the teams have dynamically different postseason chances.

The Bucks are in fifth in the Eastern Conference and hold the tiebreaker over the four teams chasing them from behind, while the Grizzlies' chances are all but gone to catch Portland or San Antonio in the standings.

Milwaukee has also struggled with injuries and illness in the past few days. Bogut missed Friday's game because of a sore back that had limited him in his previous three and Ersan Ilyasova was out Friday with the flu.
Then, Carlos Delfino had to be taken off in a stretcher when he was inadvertently landed on by Heat forward Udonis Haslem on Friday night. Gasol had been out, too, and finished with 11 points and six rebounds before fouling out.

Milwaukee trailed 85-78 midway through the fourth, but the Grizzlies committed four turnovers down the stretch as the Bucks rallied. Ilyasova gave them their first lead of the period at 91-89 after a second-chance 3-pointer with 1:37 left. But Conley's free throws sent the game to overtime.

Nets'Winning Streak, Their First of Season,2 hit

Having secured their ninth victory of a desperately forgettable season Friday night against Detroit, the Nets will not go down as the most futile team in N.B.A. history.
But putting some distance between themselves and the nine-win Philadelphia 76ers of 1972-73 will have to wait. The Nets had no legs, no defensive answers and no shooting touch against the Chicago Bulls in the second of back-to-back games Saturday night, and took a 106-83 beating at the United Center.

“It’s disappointing,” Coach Kiki Vandeweghe said after the Nets’ first two-game winning streak of the season was halted. “The Bulls are playing for something, and it showed. We did not come to play tonight. We didn’t match their energy.”

The Nets are 9-64 with nine games left, the next one at home against San Antonio on Monday. One night after their highest-scoring and best shooting game of the season, they made just 35.8 percent of their 81 shots from the field. They were outrebounded, 54-42, and never led after the first quarter, when the Bulls used a 23-5 run to break the game open.

“Last night didn’t carry over,” said Jarvis Hayes, who made four 3-pointers and finished with 14 points. “Fatigue was part of it, but we didn’t have good ball movement and we didn’t play well on defense. We couldn’t get a stop.”
The rookie Terrence Williams led the Nets with 16 points. The 7-footers Brook Lopez and Yi Jianlian combined for 68 points Friday against Detroit. But Yi (7 points) was in foul trouble all night against Chicago and played 17 minutes. The frustrated Lopez (7 points) made 2 of 11 shots.
“These are the games where you take your lumps, hope you learn some lessons and move on,” Vandeweghe said.

The Bulls are without their No. 2 scorer, Luol Deng, who is out with a strained calf, and the energetic center Joakim Noah is playing limited minutes because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot. But they stayed within hailing distance of the final Eastern Conference playoff spot by sharing the ball: they had 30 assists on their 37 baskets.

Miller Comes Up Big as Blazers Tie Thunder for 6th

Andre Miller scored 26 points, Brandon Roy added 20 and the Portland Trail Blazers beat Oklahoma City 92-87 on Sunday night to move into a tie with the Thunder for sixth place in the Western Conference.

Oklahoma City trailed by as many as nine in the fourth quarter but had a chance to tie in the final seconds. Kevin Durant's 3-pointer with about 7 seconds left came up short off the front rim, and Miller hit two free throws with 4.6 remaining to ice it.

The Blazers have won 11 of their last 13 games to strengthen their position in the West playoff race. Portland can clinch a spot in the postseason with three wins in its last eight games.

Durant finished with 29 points for Oklahoma City, which was coming off an impressive blowout win against the West-leading Los Angeles Lakers
only two nights earlier.

Durant, who had hit 97 of his last 100 free throws entering the game, had a rare miss with 2:57 to play and missed all three of his field goal attempts in the fourth quarter -- including a pair of 3-pointers in the final 2 1/2 minutes.

The Thunder need only four wins in their last 10 games to sew up a playoff spot. Portland improved to 14-3 in the second game of back-to-back sets this season and has won its last eight in a row, dating to a loss on Jan. 5 against Memphis.

Ibaka hit back-to-back jumpers to start a string of eight straight points for Oklahoma City after the Blazers had opened a 34-24 lead early in the second quarter. In all, the Thunder outscored Portland 15-2 over the stretch and took their first lead on Durant's 3-pointer from the left wing that made it 39-36 with 5:14 left before halftime.

The Blazers led by one at halftime, then followed Thabo Sefolosha's jumper to start the second half with a 14-3 spurt to go up 64-54 on Miller's 3-pointer from the right wing.

Suns Win Sixth Straight With 132-96 Rout of Knicks

Leandro Barbosa scored 18 points in his fifth game back from wrist surgery to help the Phoenix Suns stretch their winning streak to a season-best six games with a 132-96 rout of the New York Knicks on Friday night.

The Suns have won 20 of 25 to climb within a half-game of No. 4 Utah and a game of No. 3 Dallas in the Western Conference. Phoenix remained 1 1/2 games behind Denver, the conference's No. 2 team. Amare Stoudemire scored 18 and Jason Richardson 17 for Phoenix, then sat out the final quarter. Al Harrington had 24 and David Lee 21 for New York.
Mike D'Antoni had a long night in his second trip as Knicks coach to Phoenix, where he had installed the high-speed style that is still the basis for the Suns offense under his former assistant coach Alvin Gentry. The blowout fell two points shy of Phoenix's most one-sided victory of the season.

Phoenix led by as many as 17 in the second quarter and 32 in the third against a New York team on the first stop of a five-game trip through the West. A 6-0 spurt put Phoenix ahead for good 26-19, a run that featured a thundering fast-break dunk by Stoudemire on a lob pass from Richardson.
The big lead gave Gentry a chance to stretch the minutes for Barbosa, who returned March 16 after missing 23 games. The speedy Brazilian, who made 7-of-12 shots, led a 13-3 run that put the Suns ahead 50-35 on his driving reverse layup with 7:56 left in the half. New York never got it to single digits again.

Grant Hill's 18-footer gave Phoenix its biggest lead of the half at 59-42 1:25 before the break. The Suns were up 64-48 at the break.
Goran Dragic had two assists and a layup in an 8-0 spurt and the Suns led 96-64 with 48 seconds left in the third quarter. Harrington and Bill Walker each made a 3-pointer to cut it to 96-70 entering the fourth quarter. The Suns backups made the most of their extra playing time. Dragic matched his career high with 10 assists. Channing Frye tied his season best with 11 rebounds.

Thunder Snap Lakers' 7-Game Win Streak, 91-75

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- After a late-season stumble in Oklahoma City, Kobe Bryant was left looking ahead to better days: namely, the playoffs.
Kevin Durant scored 26 points, Russell Westbrook added 23 and the Thunder snapped the Los Angeles Lakers' seven-game winning streak with a resounding 91-75 victory Friday on a turnover-filled night for Bryant.
Bryant turned it over eight times as Oklahoma City built a 19-point lead by halftime, then proceeded to hold the West-leading Lakers to their lowest-scoring output of the season. ''It's disappointing we didn't respond to the challenge,'' Bryant said. ''That being said, when the playoffs start it's a different situation.''
The Thunder could end up being the Lakers' first-round opponent, although the outcome was a step toward avoiding that scenario. Oklahoma City needed the win to remain alone in sixth place ahead of San Antonio, which beat Cleveland on Friday night. The Lakers are firmly entrenched in the top spot.

The Thunder finished the third quarter with a 16-2 run, capped by back-to-back two-handed dunks by Nick Collison and Durant. Oklahoma City took a 33-point lead into the fourth quarter, but coach Scott Brooks put Durant and Westbrook back in the game after Los Angeles scored 10 straight points to open the period.
The victory ranked as one of the most impressive for the Thunder in just under two seasons in Oklahoma City, along with a 102-74 win against Orlando -- the team the Lakers beat in last year's finals -- earlier this season.

Westbrook had nine points as Oklahoma City built an early 19-7 lead, capitalizing on four turnovers by Bryant in the opening 7 minutes. And Bryant didn't fare much better after checking back in during the second quarter. He turned it over four more times and the Thunder closed the first half on an 11-4 run to go up 53-34 after Thabo Sefolosha's fast-break layup.

Rondo Has 18 Assists, Celtics Top Kings 94-86

The Celtics led by 24 points late in the first half, but the Kings cut it to 87-81 with 3:12 left in the game on a 3-pointer by Beno Udrih. Then Boston scored the next five points and stayed in front by at least six after that.
Rondo moved into second place on the Celtics' single-season assists list with 696. He passed Sherman Douglas' total of 683 in 1993-94 and trails only Bob Cousy's 715 in 1959-60. Sacramento was led by Carl Landry with 30 points and Udrih with 16.

Boston rolled to a 32-17 lead after one quarter behind Pierce's 11 points, Kevin Garnett's seven rebounds and Rondo's six assists. The Celtics led by 20 at halftime after Ray Allen scored 12 points in the last six minutes before intermission.

The Kings absorbed their fifth loss in six games after coming off a season-low point total in a 93-79 loss Wednesday night to the New Jersey Nets. They are playing without star rookie Tyreke Evans, who missed his fourth straight game following a concussion.

The Celtics played without starting center Kendrick Perkins, sidelined for the first time with a sore left knee, but didn't need him.

It was 41-31 after Landry's jumper midway through the second quarter. That's when Allen and Rondo took over to lead a 16-2 run. That made it 57-33, Boston's biggest lead of the game, with 1:37 remaining in the half.
Allen started the surge with a pair of layups on assists by Rondo, then sank a 3-pointer -- all in a span of 48 seconds. Landry's layup broke the streak, but the Celtics quickly started another one on a layup by Rondo. The point guard then fed Allen for a 3-pointer and, after a steal by Rasheed Wallace, the roles reversed as Allen passed to Rondo for a layup.

Rajon Rondo had a career-high 18 assists, Paul Pierce scored 22 points and the Boston Celtics won for the sixth time in seven games with a 94-86 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.

Jordan's No. 23 Just Isn't the Retiring Type

By virtually all accounts, LeBron James is an admirable adult who will bring honor to whatever team signs him for next season.

Lately, he has been suggesting that every N.B.A. team retire No. 23 in homage to Michael Jordan. It sounded to me like a bad idea, but James does have solid company in Pat Riley, who has already retired Jordan’s number.

James had every right to seek permission to switch to No. 6 from No. 23 next season, which he did recently — filing the paperwork that lifted hopes for every Cleveland Cavaliers fan in existence.

Jordan has received enough honors — and earned every one of them. But retiring numbers should be mostly up to teams, although there are two distinct examples of a league’s retiring a number — Wayne Gretzky’s No. 99 and Jackie Robinson's No. 42.

Retiring numbers is tricky. The Celtics and the Yankees have retired so many great numbers that one of these years, their players will be wearing triple digits. And I was going through the N.B.A.’s list of retired numbers in some of the western franchises, whose greatest moments have taken place past my bedtime, and to tell you the truth, I had never heard of some of them.

I think of Jim Brown limping back to the huddle, Sandy Koufax firing strikes, Julius Erving making 360-degree dunks, Magic Johnson leading the fast break. Showtime! Long may No. 32 shimmer.

Magic Hits 50 Victories for 3rd Year in a Row

The visiting Orlando Magic notched its third straight 50-win season with a 109-93 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

Howard had 23 points and 15 rebounds, his league-leading 55th double-double for Orlando.

Rashard Lewis scored 24 points and Vince Carter had 17 for the Magic (50-21), which won 50 games in three straight seasons for the first time since 1993-96. The Magic has won 10 of 11 — and seven in a row against the 76ers.

“I’ve never won 50 games before,” Carter said. “I’m thinking of the bigger picture. I want to win a championship.”

Dwyane Wade had 27 points and 12 assists for visiting Miami. Brook Lopez had 26 points for the Nets (7-63), who have lost eight in a row. The Nets played without the interim coach Kiki Vandeweghe, whose mother is ill in California. The assistant John Loyer replaced him.

Mehmet Okur scored all of his 14 points in the second half and added 15 rebounds for host Utah. Okur added three blocks for the Jazz, who outscored the Celtics inside by 50-36.

Nets Beat Kings in Their Effort to Avoid a Date With History

Brook Lopez had 26 points and 13 rebounds, and the Nets moved a step closer to avoiding a dubious date with N.B.A.history by beating the Sacramento Kings , 93-79, on Wednesday night to end an eight-game losing streak and a franchise-record 14-game skid at home.

Devin Harris added 24 points and 9 assists for the Nets (8-63), who need to win once in their last 11 games to avoid breaking the league mark for fewest wins in a season (9-73), set by the Philadelphia 76ers in 1972-73.

Brett Yormark, the Nets' chief executive, came to the game prepared for more potential bag-wearing protesters.

Any fan who put a paper bag on his head — as a fan did Monday, prompting an exchange with Yormark — would be offered a nylon Nets’ bag containing a poster, a pack of player trading cards and a printed note from Yormark that said: “Thanks for letting us see your face. We hope to see it more often at Nets' games.”

Barry Baum, a Nets spokesman, said two people accepted the exchange offer by halftime.

The biggest drawback of Brooks Blowed by Ross

Brooks is the savior of Rockets, but he played poorly in today's game as the result of the entire first half without scoring, the first three quarters warfare did not score, alone received a technical foul free throw points. The reason for doing so apathetic Brooks is that he was in the right place Rose's time, there is no advantage of both offensive and defensive, was Ross Da Bao. Brooks finished the game 17 to vote only 3 received 9 points 6 assists.
Game starts, Brooks faced with draft pick Ross, whether it is height, weight, speed or ability, and opponents have a bad grade. So, keep a close eye the face of Ross's defense, Brooks did not break up first and can not play their speed advantage. There is no advantage in speed case, the Brooks will completely stop the attack.Brooks at the end of the game after the first three quarters, nine voted 0, there is no foul free throws made, solely to be a technical foul free throw points, compared to Brooks prior to this game, no doubt looked very mad. But this does not surprise, as prior to Brooks in the face of players who have the speed when, for example, Landau.
Brooks at the end of the game after the first three quarters, nine voted 0, there is no foul free throws made, solely to be a technical foul free throw points, compared to Brooks prior to this game, no doubt looked very mad. But this does not surprise, as prior to Brooks in the face of players who have the speed when, for example, Landau.Brooks play in attack, while his defensive flaws continue to be exposed. To Brooks's height and weight, if he encountered, as Deron - Williams such as height, weight and speed of the point guard, the defense will be completely passive position. In the previous game against the Jazz, because Brooks's defensive flaws, the Rockets lost to Williams, almost one person.

Brave Status of Ariza activated Rockets

Challenge Between Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls in March,23th.
Bulls scholar Derek - Ross playing back, which is large effect to Rockets. He was opening the scoring in the cast. Brooks made a pass from Trevor Ariza, which resulted in the completion of Ross's foul, two-thirds of the success of Trevor Ariza. Hayes cutting layups, then Gibson Kirk Hinrich assists and threes. Martin-thirds are not in the market rebounds after the Rockets lost, but fortunately not in the third Ross.
Ariza today in good shape.Scola inside the ball to attract double-teamed, he quickly reached the outside, Trevor Ariza hit three-pointers, 6-5 on the rocket. Rose individual capacity is a strong counterpoint Brooks has a weight, height, and his technology is more comprehensive, he was 9 minutes 04 seconds to face a small cloth easy shot. Trevor Ariza, and Scola scoring opportunities were missed, Ross scores again in the vote. Trevor Ariza's shooting fouls result in Johnson, he even missed two free throws in the. Scola in 7 minutes and 24 seconds to use the pace of successful singles in the lane, Hinrich followed by the vote score. Martin's shooting fouls result in Kirk Hinrich, his two free throws. Raptors' defensive issues

A players-only meeting and a couple of tweaks to their defensive schemes turned things around at that point, and the Raptors won 22 of their 32 games heading into the All-Star break. They didn't exactly turn into the 2008 Celtics, but they were the 18th best defensive team in the league during that stretch, allowing 105.4 points per 100 possessions, good enough to get by with a highly potent offense.
At this point, the Raptors have pretty much clinched the Worst Defensive Team in the League title for the 2009-10 season. The question is: Does that devalue Bosh in the free agent market? Can he be nearly on the same level as LeBron James and Dwyane Wade if he can't make an impact on both ends of the floor?
The Raptors ranked 12th defensively in 2006-07, when they won the franchise's only division title. So it's not like Bosh has never been on a good defensive team. This may just be a case of an average defender being surrounded by a bunch of really bad ones. And with so many teams clearing cap space in order to make a free agency splash this summer, someone is going to give Bosh a max contract no matter how bad the Raptors have been defensively this season.

McGrady Revenge failure

Mike D'Antoni to Madison arranged for 32 minutes and 51 seconds of playing time, which is his playing since March 6 after the Toronto game, half the first time since playing for more than 30 minutes. Dandong nits so much to accommodate the revenge war tone, but rather that more was due to the opening when McGrady excellent performance before the Knicks coach tempted. After the debut of Tracy McGrady on the play is very aggressive, whether it is offensive or organizations have become the focus of the New York Knicks, in his Knicks led 32-17 in the first section of the play excellent offensive years, although the Rockets II Crazy oiwake single scored 45 points, but the Knicks are still under the control of Tracy McGrady got 32 points, or at least did not let the rocket will go-ahead score.
But even if Madison lose points score than the audience of up to +15, is the highest Knicks team player, but Mike D'Antoni, or abruptly in the fourth quarter of his press section at the bench most of the time, until there are four sub-54 When Tracy McGrady was second debut. And that, after Tracy McGrady shot a total of only two times only, one is the debut cast to find touch after the trial, and the other one was still 1 minute 58 seconds when the shot is not in the. McGrady, when the rocket is the team's key man, but when the Knicks at the last moment to attack stubborn to let Douglas, but when to give up Tracy McGrady, perhaps the match was destined for was a failure, Douglas in the last one minutes of time, the two fatal mistakes, McGrady's Revenge war because of his brain and therefore the performance of buried residues. Madison even to the Knicks, it still failed to regain the former star of the treatment, which his basketball career a bit grief.
The Knicks still lost the game, McGrady and therefore lost to his former employer, the rocket, which is in his career, each time against his former club to replace the team's first game where you lost the game. But today, lost the game has nothing to do with Tracy McGrady, who has played his best quality is the Knicks in the personnel area was ruined by his incredible performance so well.

Rocket is the biggest winner in the tripartite deal

Rockets beat Knicks reversed. Martin scored 28 points, Hill scored 13 points, five rebounds and three assists, a sharp Columbia in scoring and assists have created a new record of his career. Since the February 19 rockets since the tripartite deal, Martin and Hill to prove with concrete actions, the rocket is the biggest winner in three transactions.
Since the tripartite deal, the Rockets have ushered in a three-game losing streak, as shake-up after the break in the new lineup will take time to pay, for the time being can be a rocket in the transaction in late February after five games with four wins in a negative as a pay tuition. Has been since March, after a simple run-rocket in 10 games with 7 wins 3 losses record of success, but also the team's longest this season, a four-game winning streak. From the transcripts already we can see that the rocket after the transaction through the run-in more operational capability.
Rocket from the transaction to be the core values of Martin, after a brief discomfort in late February, after Martin has finally revealed his true qualities of super-scorer. Martin, 15 games, averaging 22.8 points scored, has replaced Brooks as the first fort in Houston. A steady scorer, which is the rocket up and down, including fans have been looking for. Today, Martin has become a stable's score to win an indispensable tool for the rocket. In contrast McGrady, the Rockets this season, McGrady was prior to the transaction in the six games, averaging 3.2 points 0.8 rebounds; is obvious Tracy McGrady to the Rockets this season, the contribution can not be with Martin in the same breath. Madison preference for a long time the ball on the current emphasis on the rocket in terms of fighting as a team, Martin is clearly more suitable.

Jordan calls owning Bobcats 'dream come true'

A few hundred season ticket holders watched Johnson hand the team to Jordan in an event at Time Warner Cable Arena on Thursday night. Johnson, the first black majority owner of a major professional sports team, lost tens of millions of dollars annually as the city struggled to warm to the expansion team that replaced the New Orleans-bound Hornets.Jordan didn't in his role the past four years as a minority investor with the final say on basketball decisions. Jordan was rarely seen at games or practices and was criticized for a couple of early decisions: drafting the disappointing Adam Morrison No. 3 overall in the 2006 draft, and hiring the inexperienced Sam Vincent as coach.
And the 69-year-old Brown, in his record ninth NBA head coaching job, is always a threat to leave. While he has two years left on his contract, there have been reports linking him to jobs with the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers. Brown's wife, Shelly, lives in Philadelphia with their kids.
Jordan indicated he doesn't plan to get into luxury tax territory with payroll "until we go deep" in the playoffs. He stressed that he wanted Charlotte to "experience what it's like to win" and is confident he can create another milestone by doing that as an owner.

Bryant Rises to the Occasion

Former President Bill Clinton commanded the court at halftime, with a plea for disaster relief for Haiti. Once basketball activities resumed, Kobe Bryant and the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers owned the court, particularly when it mattered most.
It was generally a good showing for the Knicks, who were making a rare appearance on national television. The final impression, however, was of a team unable to make critical plays against a clearly superior opponent.Bryant led the way with 27 points, although he struggled with his shot (8 for 24) and spent most of the game deferring to his teammates. Bryant was frustrated by his team’s lack of grit in the loss to the Cavaliers and seemed to carry a foul mood to the Garden.
Chris Duhon and Jared Jeffries alternated for most of the night checking Bryant. He went 2 for 8 in the first half and appeared to aggravate his fractured right finger — which has a protective splint — on a breakaway layup in the third quarter. When Bryant flipped the ball up instead of dunking, the fans booed.

Kobe Bryant performance in the whole game

This is a deep mark on the game .In the second half,Kobe appear with two very different ways propped up the Lakers. Although Bryant hit 26 of 10 cast rate is not ideal, but he switched roles in the game and won a victory fruit.
We see a lone first half, Bryant .But Bynum, Pau Gasol and Artest three individuals together, the first half shooting 19 times. Lakers triangle offense is a cover, their offense in the first half almost to simplify routines of life. Kobe Bryant the ball, Gasol or Bynum to do a cover, flying aboard the gap to find the basket Xia drill. Section last 3 minutes and 24 seconds, Kobe Bryant 13 points arranged. Where Zijin Army with what the team is Kobe Bryant single-handedly solve the fighting.
Bryant began the transition from the third quarter, the second half, he only shot 8 times. Fei Xia suppress the desire to live his own shot, more rapid transfer of the ball, Pau Gasol and Bynum got the ball for more opportunities to connect inside and outside the Lakers offense smoothly. The second half, the Lakers shooting 55% (first half to 42.9%), and bon voyage to cut down the king to get the 50th win of the season.
As the Lakers headed star, Kobe Bryant scored the team needed. Bryant's wound is not well .We can see from his penalty today, only eight of 14 free throws can be discerned in the game he needs to find the rhythm of shooting, so a few are also investing more normal, but only if he can not be the Lakers offense go it alone completely into the model. Today, the first half of this ball is a typical Los Angeles Lakers Kobe Bryant solo chaos of war, which is deviated from the title track. Fortunately, Bryant timely adjustments in the second half.In the end they won the games.
